Ian McHarg served for ten years in the British Army, during that time he qualified as a combat engineer, commando and physical training instructor, and served in Northern Ireland, Canada, Germany and the Falkland Islands. After leaving the Army he worked for the Ministry of Defence as an instructor at the Royal School of Military Engineering. During that period he graduated from London South Bank University with a Master of Science degree.
From 2000 he worked in various sectors including: international events, nuclear, chemical, pharmaceutical and oil & gas, in Australia, Europe and the UK. In 2015 he project managed the military charity, Help for Heroes, flagship fundraising event, Hero Ride, which raised over £1.3 million for wounded and injured veterans.
